The High School held its annual Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 19th in the High School auditorium. The concert was a mixture of the band and chorus, both directed by Stephen Morrison. There were also special performances from the Ricci and Birchwood Middle School bands.
The concert began with the Middle School Band, directed by Greg Berger. This group included many different levels of musicians, from beginners to privately-trained players. They played holiday classics as well as a very special song. Only at Christmas Time, a song written by Greg Berger for the holiday season, was sung by Ronnie Giorgio, with musical accompaniment from a few select members of the middle school bands.
The next group was the Ricci Middle School Chorus, directed by Amy Gingrass. There was also a performance from Billy Stockholm III, who sang Away in a Manger. Billy also joined the High School choir later in singing Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town.
The High School Choir performed next with the chorus, singing songs such as Little Drummer Boy and Winter Wonderland. Then the Concert Choir sang by themselves, including selections like Jingle Bell Rock, Angels We have Heard on High, and their favorite piece, Carol of the Bells.
Finally, it was time for the High School Band to take the stage, and the audience enjoyed their performances of Frosty the Snowman, Let it Snow, and The Christmas Song, among others.
The Holiday Concert was a major success and should never be missed. The Band and Choir will also be having a Winter Concert on January 14th, a Spring Concert on May 13th, along with a Macaroni Dinner on February 13th. Be sure to come out and enjoy the music!
