Japan recently got its first female prime minister, which is a huge step for women in Japan, yet many political critics have raised concerns about her, and it’s not because she’s a woman, but apparently that she is an “Ultraconservative.”
One of her main goals is to get the United States to harbor their nuclear missiles in Japan, along with reforming article nine, the part of Japan’s constitution that limits their ability to have a military. She also apparently opposed same-sex marriage in Japan. Other goals include creating a national intelligence agency, penalizing burning Japan’s flag, and apparently supporting shutting down “politically biased news stations.”
As for immigration, she wants to restrict immigration and crack down on illegal immigration, along with forming an agency to deal with over-tourism and overstays, most likely an agency similar to ICE.
Finally in economics, she wants to “Increase funding with the Crisis Management Investment”, which includes Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, nuclear fusion, biotechnology, and Defense.
If she is just a normal prime minister, a great prime minister who will progress the nation, or if she’s an ultraconservative threat, is up to your interpretation. Only time will tell.
