The Lady Cougar Soccer team is a group of young, talented athletes who have made history on the field, showcasing their skills, determination, and teamwork. Their season was remarkable, from the highs and lows to the unforgettable moments that defined their season. Although their time as a team came to an abrupt end after their loss against the Lincoln Lions in the quarterfinals of playoffs, the Lady Cougars still had an excellent season.

The Cougars ended their season with an 8-6-3 record overall. They placed 6th in their division (II). A highlight in the season was their 6-1 win against the Ponaganset Chieftains. In the seasons before, the Cougars have only been able to tie.

Sophomore Ally Luna (#4), a striker/midfielder, played an excellent season, with 7 goals and 3 assists. “This season was an excellent one, although it came to an end abruptly. I believe we played so well,” says Luna. “Compared to last year we have grown as a team and a family. I’m so proud of our team and everything we’ve accomplished this season. We are a truly talented team with great chemistry.”

Senior captain Sophie Intrieri (#7), a midfielder, also had a great season, with 2 goals and one assist. “We truly had one of the best soccer seasons in North Providence Girls Soccer history,” says Intrieri. “Not only is this team one of the most talented teams I’ve ever played on but this team has a bond that can never be matched. I won’t ever forget how special this team was and I will remember this amazing season we had forever.”

Sophomore Ella Intrieri (#22), a striker, had an exceptional season, with 22 goals and 9 assists. “I am proud of how we did as a team this season. We accomplished more than we could ever imagine,” she states. “The chemistry this team has is incredible and you can really see that shine through when we play together. Our season has come to an unfortunate end but I can’t wait to start back up next year.”

Overall, the Lady Cougars played their hearts out, and their hard work truly showed throughout their season. Their team values the importance of unity, sportsmanship and passion. Although their season came to a bittersweet end on November 2nd, the team will constantly be reminded of their outstanding performance. They have shown us what true teamwork looks like, leaving us excited for the next season, and their future success.

Thank you to our seniors Molly Witt, Sophie Intrieri, Arianna Cardoso, Melissa Valle, Nicky Ramirez, and Paola Lopez for the last four years! We wish you the best.
