It feels like yesterday that I welcomed many of you to NPHS as your 9th Grade Science Teacher, so it is surreal that I am already writing this farewell message to you. Seeing you all fill the hallways over the past 4 years, discovering who you are, taking risks, making mistakes, and writing your chapter of NPHS history has been nothing short of amazing.
What a pleasure it has been to serve as the adviser for the National Honor Society this year. Never forget that every act of service you’ve completed, every smile you’ve shared, and every act of good will has had a positive impact on our community members.
Your Character was clear to the elementary schoolers you worked with. Your presence will help motivate them through their K-12 journey. I will remember the initiative you took at service events, the way you helped one another, and the pride I felt as you grew in your Leadership throughout the year. You stepped up and showed up, many of you showcasing your Service by completing far more than 25 service hours throughout the year. Together, we saved 357 lives this year at our blood drives. Your teachers will look back fondly on your Scholarship and the lengths you went to to further your education and learn for the sake of true understanding and skill development.
The four pillars of NHS help you reach out to your community and encourage you to leave this place better than you found it. You have done so at NPHS. You will continue to do so as you embark on your next journey to college, the military, trade school, or the workforce. Life does not happen to you – you happen to it. I encourage you all to take all of the lessons you’ve learned – both the good and the bad – and use it to shape your world into the place you want it to be. Congratulations to the Class of 2026!
