What can I say about these past four years?
Honestly, there have been moments when high school seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye, and there have been other moments when we wished it would move a little faster. But no matter how quickly or slowly the time felt, it has been a crazy, unforgettable, and exciting journey.
As the Class of 2026, we have experienced things that most other classes haven’t; We entered our school years in the aftermath of COVID, adapting to changes and challenges that reshaped what school looked like. Through it all, we learned how to be resilient, flexible, and determined. In many ways, we helped pave the path for the future of this high school and the students who will come after us.
As Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, I want to leave my fellow Cougar Courier staff with one final thought; be present. I know our job is to cover the big events like the homecoming game and announcing the prom king and queen, and all the moments that make headlines. But the most meaningful part of journalism is not just reporting on those moments; it is living them. When you truly immerse yourself in the events you are covering, you begin to appreciate their significance. You realize that you are preserving memories and capturing the stories that collectively define a school year.
Years from now, students will look back at the articles, photos, and stories you create. They will see snapshots of what it meant to be a Cougar during this moment in time. So take it all in and most importantly, make sure the story you help tell is one worth remembering.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026.
