February 17 – Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was greatly anticipated by all marvel fans. The movie will be coming out on February 17, 2023. You can expect some familiar faces like Paul Rudd, who is coming back to play Scott Lang, also known as Antman, and Evangeline Lilly is going to reprise her role as Hope Van Dyne, also known as the Wasp. The wide speculation about Kang the Conqueror was confirmed at the trailer’s beginning. They cast Jonathan Major as Kang. February 24 – Cocaine Bear

Cocaine? Bear? Based on a real story, Cocaine Bear follows a bear that consumes a gargantuan amount of cocaine and goes on a murder spree. Cocaine Bear stars Ray Liotta, Margo Martindale, and Keri Russell. Cocaine Bear will be shown in theaters on February 24, 2023. 

March 3 – Creed III

The third installment of the Creed movie series has been greatly anticipated by fans of the Rocky franchise for some time now and has a current release date of March 3, 2023. Following the events of Creed II (2018), Adonis “Donnie” Creed is thriving in both his boxing career and family life. However, the trajectory of his career rapidly changes when a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian “Dame” Anderson, resurfaces after serving an extended prison sentence. Dame is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring, and Adonis must put his future on the line to battle a fighter with nothing to lose. Michael B. Jordan stars and directs in ‘Creed III,’ his directorial debut. The film also features Jonathan Majors and Tessa Thompson. 

March 10 – Scream VI

Set for release on March 10, 2023, Scream VI is anticipated to be one of the most high-intensity horror movies of the year. Playing off similar themes from the previous five movies in the Scream franchise, Scream VI picks up with the key players leaving Woodsboro for a fresh start in New York City. However, they soon find themselves fighting for their lives when a new killer embarks on a bloody rampage. This time around, Courtney Cox returns along with Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. Hayden Panettiere is back for the first time since Scream 4 (2011).

March 17 – Shazam! Fury of the Gods

Shazam is returning to the big screen once again. Zachary Levi will be reprising his role as the powerful Shazam. Shazam and his family will have to face the wrath of the gods in Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be showing in theaters on March 17, 2023.

March 31 – Dungeons and Dragons

It’s another board game movie adaptation! Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is coming to the big screens on March 31, 2023. With this tabletop roleplay game rising in popularity again by making appearances in the hit Netflix original Stranger Things, it was only a matter of time before an adaptation was released. Chris Pine as Edgin the Bard and Regé-Jean Page as Xenk the Paladin are some of the more prominent names featured.

April 7 – Super Mario Brothers

The iconic Super Mario Brothers game is being adapted into a cartoon movie. The story follows brothers Mario and Luigi trying to save Princess Peach. Big names in the cast include Chris Pratt as Mario, Jack Black as Bowser, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong. This movie will be in theaters on April 7, 2023. 

April 14 – Renfield

We all know about the famous Dracula and his vampire endeavors, but what about his assistant? Set to release on April 14, 2023, Renfield follows the story of Dracula’s assistant Renfield (played by Nicolas Cage), in a modern-day setting, highlighting his wish to break free from his master’s word.

April 21 – Evil Dead Rise

After thirty years, we are finally getting a sequel to 1993’s Army of Darkness. Evil Dead Rise, starring Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, is an extension of the original universe built by director Sam Raimi. The film switches gears in a new urban setting that follows two sisters fighting off Deadites. Releasing on April 21, 2023, the film looks to pick up the magic where it left off years ago and continue this beloved universe.

May 5 – Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will be the last of the Guardians of the galaxy movie. Even though it will be hard for marvel fans to move on from these characters they fell in love with. Fans will be able to watch them on the big screen one last time on May 5, 2023. Chris Pratt, Zoe Sladaña, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel will return to play Star-Lord, Garmora, Rocket, and our well-beloved Baby Groot. Fans had very high expectations for this movie.

May 19 – Fast X

Another Fast and Furious movie? Why not! Fast and Furious 10, also known as Fast X, is the new sequel to F9. It will be the second to last Fast and Furious film. The film’s trailer will be released on February 10, while the film itself will be released on May 19, 2023. Most Vin Diesel fans will be interested as he will play a part as the character “Dominic Toretto.” Along with Vin Diesel, fellow producers will be Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Jason Momoa, Jordana Brewster, Brie Larson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Cardi B, Rita Moreno, and Charlize Theron.

May 26 – The Little Mermaid

It’s another Disney live-action adaptation! This time, The Little Mermaid is brought back to the big screen. Big names include Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, and Daveed Diggs as Sebastian. Disney’s previous live-action remakes have had mixed reviews. Will The Little Mermaid be good?

June 2 – Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse

The long-awaited sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse is finally coming. The first movie received amazing reviews, winning an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. The sequel features Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld reprising their roles as Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy/Ghost-Spider. Marvel fans should definitely keep an eye out for this movie. It’ll be out in theaters on June 2, 2023.

June 9 – Transformers

This June, Transformers will make their well-awaited comeback to theaters. The Transformers are alien robots that can transform into cars or planes. The battle between Autobots and Decepticons will continue in this movie. The Maximals, Predacons, and Terrocons will join the fight between good and evil on June 9, 2023.

June 16 – The Flash

A wild team-up of iconic superheroes Batman, Supergirl, and The Flash is set to take place on June 16, 2023. The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, is a new addition to the DC Extended Universe and looks to dive into the concept of the multiverse. Through the multiverse, fans will be greeted with a long-awaited return of Michael Keaton’s Batman. They will witness the debut of Sasha Calle as Supergirl makes her first big screen appearance since the 1984 adaptation ‘Supergirl.’ The movie is considered “one of the greatest superhero movies ever made” by co-DCU CEO James Gunn.

June 30 – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

The adventurer of the century is back for another daring quest. Our beloved Indiana Jones is returning to the big screens on June 30, 2023, with appearances from Harrison Ford and Phoebe Walter-Bridge. If you loved the first four movies of the Indiana Jones series, then mark your calendar.

July 14 – Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1

On July 14, 2023, Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1. This movie will be the 7th installment of the Mission Impossible franchise. Only a little is known about the movie so far other than there will be a 2nd part.

July 28 – The Marvels 

The highly anticipated Marvel movie will come out on July 28, 2023. The actors are Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani who play Ms. Marvel, Teyonah Parris who plays Monica Rambeau, and a special show from her on-screen mother, Lashana Lynch, who will be coming back to play Maria Rambeau. This movie will be a part of marvel’s phase 5 and show the future of the MCU. 

August 18 – Blue Beetle

The DC hero Blue Beetle is finally receiving a live-action superhero movie. Xolo Maridueña, an actor known for playing Miguel in Cobra Kai, will be playing the role of Jamie Reyes and his alter ego, the Blue Beetle. Blue Beetle will be landing in theaters on August 18, 2023.
