Every year, around Christmas, many people watch a variety of different Christmas movies. There is a large assortment of Christmas movies available to watch, ranging from short, happy cartoons, to deep, emotional live action dramas. What are the most popular ones for 2022?

1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – The story follows Clark Griswold, who wants to have a perfect Christmas with his family, but things soon go awry when his cousin, Eddy, and more of his family show up and start living in their hamper on the Griswold property. Clark’s employers changing their mind on giving him a holiday bonus doesn’t help matters either.
2. Home Alone  – After acting out, 8 year old Kevin McCallister is made to sleep in the attic. However, the next morning when the family leaves to go to Paris, they forget about him, mistakenly leaving him home alone. Kevin initially celebrates their absence, but his mood sours when he has to defend his house alone from two robbers.
3. Elf – Buddy was accidentally brought to the North Pole as a toddler and raised among Santa’s elves. Due to a feeling of not fitting in, Buddy leaves to travel to New York to meet his real father, Walter Hobbs. After a DNA test, the two realize they actually are related and begin to form a relationship, albeit a rocky one with chaotic results. Buddy must learn to adapt to the very different lifestyle of those in New York compared to those in the North Pole.
4. Four Christmases – After their initial plans to go on an exotic vacation, unmarried couple, Brad and Kate, must spend Christmas going to four different Christmas get togethers. Their different experiences lead to one wanting to escape the crazy relatives whereas the other questions if the relatives are so crazy after all.
5. A Christmas Story – 

As you can see, much of the list is filled with classic movies. Samba TV also reported that new holiday movies, such as Falling for Christmas, a story that follows        and Spirited, a musical version of A Christmas Carol, starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, were also popular. Students here at NPHS pretty much agree with Samba TV’s top 5 list. However, Jim Carrey’s version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer ranked higher on the students’ watchlists than Four Christmases and A Christmas Story.
