Boys Basketball Is Back!

Nina Omanyo, Reporter

The North Providence High School Boys’ Basketball team has returned with an exciting start to their 2022-2023 season. They started their season with a game against the Falcons of Cranston West. The Cougars JV team had a difficult start to the game, being down by 12 points at halftime. They came back with a vengeance in the third and fourth periods, scoring most of their points, and won the game 46-44 with a killer last shot from Maxwell Washington. Varsity also had a difficult start to the first period. But with a consistent offense and stepping up their defense in the second quarter, they managed to go into halftime down by 5 after an impressive floater by Ryan Rodriguez. They had a good start to the third period but let go of their lead and were down by 3 going into the fourth. It was a very close last period, but the Cougars lost 55-58. The boys’ basketball team will play Blackstone Valley Prep this Thursday at home. Be sure to show up to support your North Providence Cougars!
