A New Shade Of Red: Taylor Swift’s New Album

Many fans of the famous singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift, have been waiting for what seems like a lifetime for the re-recorded album “Red: Taylor’s Version.” It has finally arrived, and it was well worth the wait.

This revised version of the 2012 album is reportedly based on Taylor Swift’s relationship with the well-renowned actor Jake Gyllenhaal, after they dated for three months in late 2010, then separated not soon after. Many fans speculate that most of the album focuses on the struggles of being a young adult, the ferocity of fame, and society’s infatuation with youthful, young women and how they are exiled once they enter adulthood.

The album includes all thirty songs that were meant to be on the original track, including new additions such as “Nothing New” and “I Bet You Think About Me.” As previously stated, some songs focus on the troubles of growing up and not knowing what comes next, while also containing some elements of reminiscing about a lost romance. Songs that have a more romantic feel include the very popular hit single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” and fan favorite, “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” which charted at number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 the first day of release. Despite the underlying messages in some of the songs, a vast majority of the album focuses on heartbreak, and how losing someone can change a person, whether it be for the worse or for the better.

This album manages to have a little something for everyone. Whether it be reeling from a break-up, or pondering the thought of getting older but not knowing anything about the world, Taylor Swift provides listeners with relatable yet extremely personal work of art. Regardless of whether you are a new fan or old, this album can be considered an enjoyable listening experience.
