Adele’s Comeback
November 30, 2021
If you grew up in the 2000s, Adele is probably a familiar name. With so many hit songs such as “Hello” and “Rolling in the Deep,” she has become one of the world’s best music artists. Along with four additional albums, her fifth album, 30, came out on November 19th, with 12 songs in total.
Adele’s last album, “25,” was released in 2015, which makes “30” her latest album since her divorce from Simon Konecki in 2019. Adele’s album focuses on how the split has affected her and their nine year old son, Angelo. Her main inspiration to write this album comes from Angelo. Although he is not old enough to understand why his parents are divorced, Adele hopes that her album can provide an explanation for when he’s old enough to understand. Adele and Konecki still remain on good terms, even to the extent of living across the street from each other to co-parent.
“Easy On Me” was the first single released from the album on October 15th, and it has managed to make its way up to #1 on the Billboard Global Charts. With lines such as, “You can’t deny how hard I’ve tried, I changed who I was to put you both first – but now I give up,” she explains how she had lost her happiness by trying to maintain her ex-husband’s and son’s happiness.
“My Little Love” is a special song, because it is specifically intended for Angelo. The six minute song talks about Adele’s struggles after the divorce and her feelings of letting Angelo down. The song also includes voice memos of conversations with her and her son that explain more about the divorce. In response to why she wrote the song for Angelo, Adele says, “He needs to know that everyone goes through it.”
Adele’s new album “30” can be described as “powerful” by many fans. It contains raw emotion and covers many aspects that people can relate to, such as divorce, heartbreak, parenting, and feelings of loneliness.
