Covid Friendly Volunteer Options

Naeelah Desanges, Reporter

Helping the people in need in your community is a great way to brighten the lives of everyone around you. Because of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and the adversities that follow it, finding community service opportunities are much harder to find. Our communities’ needs do not just disappear overnight, so here are three different ways to positively impact the people around you safely and healthily.

1.Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude is an excellent opportunity to show your gratitude to the people who risk their lives every day for you and me. Writing a heartfelt Thank-You Card will show them the appreciation they truly deserve. A first responder, soldier, or veteran would love to receive your Thank-You Note through Operation Gratitude.

2. TeensGive

Are you a good student? Do you enjoy reteaching material in a way that’s simple and easier to understand? TeensGive might be the perfect place for you to gain some community service hours. Through this organization, you will be able to tutor underprivileged children from behind a screen.

3.Best Buddies

This organization works to better the lives of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. By becoming an e-Buddy, you are required to email the person you pair with at least once every two weeks. They will match you with someone who shares your interests, and Best Buddies will not pair you with someone from your state. This is a wonderful opportunity to brighten someone else’s life.

These volunteering options are a way for you to make a difference. We all can turn a bad situation into a good one, and helping others is a great way to do so. Make sure to do your research on any of the volunteering opportunities to ensure that it is a commitment you are willing to make.
