The New PS5 and Why Everyone is Talking About it

Christine Pietkiewicz, Reporter

Recently, as you may have heard, the new PlayStation 5 was released by Sony. The two separate release dates occurred on November 12th in the US, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, and November 19th in the UK and the rest of the world. The new gaming system has gotten tons of attention and has been sold out practically everywhere… but why?

The PS5 is being sold for $400-$500 in most stores that sell consoles and electronics, including Gamestop, Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and many more. Crazily enough, people have been buying these consoles and reselling them for upwards of $1,000

But, what’s so different about the PS5 anyways? Besides being one of the most popular branded gaming consoles in the world and being constantly talked about in today’s media, the PS5 has been praised for its impressive hardware and graphics. It has the new custom RNDA 2 GPU that provides 4K resolution at 120 fps. To put it simply, this enhances high resolution gaming performance with vivid visuals. Additionally, there are games being released strictly for PS5, such as Marvel’s Spider Man: Miles Morales and Astro’s Playroom.

This Christmas, maybe buy a gaming-obsessed loved one (or yourself) the new PlayStation 5, if you can even get your hands on it!
