Recently, as you may have heard, a game called Among Us has been extremely popular. Despite being released in 2018, for the past couple of months, the game has been #1 in Action Games on the Apple App Store. The influx in popularity is due to many popular twitch streamers and YouTubers playing the game and creating exposure.

What is Among Us?

Among us is a multiplayer game developed by InnerSloth that was released on June 15, 2018. The space-themed game requires 4-10 players, most of which being given the label “Crewmates” while 1-3 of the players are labeled as the “Impostor(s).” The goal of the crewmates is to complete tasks and work together to try to figure out who the impostor(s) is. The goal of the impostor(s) is to kill off crewmates discretely and pretend to be a crewmate without being caught. Each round, one person is voted out via a plurality vote. If the impostors are all voted out or the crewmates complete all the tasks, the crewmates win. If the impostors kill everyone without being caught, they win. 

What makes it so addictive?

The reason that the game is so successful is because of just how addicting it is. The uniqueness of the game makes it something that no one has ever played before. It is so simple, yet it requires you to use your brain to try to solve a sort of puzzle.
