NPHS Rock Band

Many of you know about the existence of North Providence High School’s concert band, and a few may know about the jazz band. There is, however, a new band related club that started this year at the high school. This club is known as rock band, and it is similar in a few ways to concert and jazz band, but it has quite a few key differences.

The rock band is much smaller than both groups, only totaling in seven members. Despite this, however, many of the members who are in two or all of the three bands prefer rock band in many ways. They all play rock instruments, and feel that they have more freedom with rock band as opposed to concert and jazz band. Instead of being told which songs to play by a band director, they have more of a choice in which music they play, under the guidance of Mr. Morrison. The club is also more laid back than concert band, with more communication going on between members due to the small size of the band. The band meets every Monday after school, and usually rehearses for an hour. Overall, this new club seems to be a fresh take on band that the school hasn’t seen before.
