The 91st Academy Awards winners were announced on February 24, 2019 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. It was Rhode Island’s own Peter Farrelly’s movie, Green Book, that took home the Best Picture Oscar along with two other awards for best Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali.  Rami Malek won Best Leading Actor for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody and the film itself took home three other Oscars (the most that night), including: Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Film Editing.  As for the actresses, Olivia Colman surprised everyone by winning Best Leading Actress in The Favorite and Regina King won Best Supporting Actress for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk. Other winners included Alfonso Cuaron who won Best Director for his work on Roma. Cuaron also won two more Oscars for Best Cinematography and Best Foreign Language Film. Black Panther received some Oscar love by taking Awards for Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Score. Spider-Man:  Into the Spider-Verse won Best Animated Feature Film, which was very predictable. BlacKkKlansman also won Best Adapted Screenplay, and the song “Shallow” sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper took Best Original Song from A Star Is Born. Finally, Vice won for best Makeup and Hair styling while First Man took Best Visual Effects.
