Applying to college can be one of the most stressful experiences for a high school senior, but fortunately, it has been made easier with the Common App. However, in addition to its advantages, the Common App brings a plethora of aggravation.

According to senior Mya D’Amico, “The Common App is very simple, but very tedious.” Because this application can be seen by all colleges, the process is convenient. Mya continues however, to acknowledge the worst aspects of the Common App: “The deadlines sometimes interfere with due dates from classes, which is very stressful. And then some colleges require additional writing which is extremely frustrating after doing the Common App and writing the personal essay.”

As you can tell, the college application process is extremely demanding. For the seniors in need of a few deadline reminders and helpful tips, here they are:

Application Deadlines:

  • November 15th
  • December 1st
  • December 15th
  • January 1st

Certain schools have different dates for Early Action and Regular Decision, be sure to see what the dates are for each school you are applying to.

Likewise, some schools are not on the common app, and instead may either use the Coalition Application or their own personal application. Be sure to do your research on each school early!

Remember:

  • Start early
  • Give teachers at least two weeks to write a letter
  • Strongly consider doing the “optional” items in the application
  • Be honest
