During this past Sunday night, a thunderstorm broke out. Heavy rains and bright lighting took over the night sky. Approximately at 11:11pm, the power flickered off for part of North Providence. A lighting strike turned the sky a vibrant purple and left the sky as quickly as it came. 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes passed. No power would come back for at least the next 20 hours for some residents.

Schools were then canceled on October 30th, 2017 as a result of no electricity. Responses were mixed with some having power throughout the night and into the next day, while others lost it completely. Most reported flickering throughout the storm. As for those without lights, power would not turn back on until 8 pm on the 30th. Others had to wait until the 31st to get theirs back. Centerdale school was canceled on Halloween while all other schools resumed a normal school schedule.

Many teachers also suffered the effects of no power from the storm. Mr. Isabella, Mr. Cicerone, Mrs. Ambrose, Mr. Gianfrancesco were few that expressed their experiences over the weekend. Mrs. Ambrose in particular also had no access to water either, since she uses a well at her home. As of the morning of November 1st, she still remains without electricity.

By this time, electricity has been restored to most, if not, all. Stay safe in this New England weather!
