October: National Bullying Prevention Month

Victoria Winter, Editor-In-Chief

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. In order to spread awareness and stop bullying, North Providence High School will be selling Stop Bullying Bracelets in the Cafeteria leading up to Wednesday, October 25th. On that day, students and faculty are encouraged to wear orange in support of the cause. There will also be guest speakers for the 9th and 10th graders including Deb Michalenka (co-founder of Community Against Bullying in Schools), Alexa Papigiotis (Miss Teen
RI), and a representative from the North Providence Police Department.

Other events for the month include a workshop on the effects of bullying on students with disabilities and their education which will be hosted by RIPIN and a community bullying education event at Camp Meehan. Registration for the workshop by RIPIN can be completed at http://www.ripin.org/workshops.html. The event at Camp Meehan will take place on October 25th from 6:00pm-8:00pm.
