Real World Day

Real+World+Day

On April 13, 2017 students participated in Real World Day at Bryant University.

Each student picked a career and received a sheet with information pertaining to their choice. They were given a monthly salary as well as a credit score and a list of finances they needed to calculate such as groceries, rent, and insurance.

In one of Bryant’s gymnasiums multiple stations were set up for each student to stop by where they could choose what type of groceries they wanted to purchase, where they would live, if they would own a pet, whether they would stream Netflix or buy cable television, etc. At the end, students had to make sure they had enough money from their jobs to pay for their expense. Otherwise, they had the option to take on a part-time job as well.

The event was a great opportunity for students to get an insight into what life after school is like. Afterwards, there was a raffle for a few small prizes such as cookies, gift cards, and a t-shirt.
