North Providence High school hosted the first of many movie nights on October 3rd
showing Insidious, the first chapter. This spine tingling, scream inducing, horror movie left
everyone on the edge of their seats and some in the fetal position. When a boy named Dalton
(played by Ty Simpkins) and his family move into a new house, their mother (Rose Byrne)
notices some strange things happening. But after a mysterious incident in the attic, Dalton falls
into a coma-like state that even doctors can’t explain; but there is more than meets the eye
with Dalton’s endless sleep. 3 months later, the answer still doesn’t reveal itself and with
nowhere else to turn, the family calls a paranormal team. Elise Rainier, (Lin Shayne) Specs,
(Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson) come and help the family get their son back
once and for all. They tell Dalton’s mother and father (Patric Wilson) that Dalton is a “traveler”
or a person with the ability to astro project themselves out of their physical body. Dalton’s body
is only an empty vessel and is open to good and bad entities coming from a place not fit for the
living called “further.” Among these entities is a demon who needs Dalton’s body to cause harm
to other people. Elise Rainier tells Josh Lambert (Dalton’s dad) that he is also a gifted traveler
and must travel into further to save his son. This movie ends with a cliffhanger that makes it
impossible to refrain from seeing the next movie, Insidious, chapter 2.
