Nerd Herd’s Portentous Presidential Election

Erickson Monterroza, Reporter

Although the 2016 presidential race is in full swing across the country, a much more influential, but less known election is occurring right under the roof of North Providence High School—after school in room 225. Yes, you guessed it, Nerd Herd; a place where even the oddities can be accepted.

With the majority of the Nerd Herd officers being sent off into the real world of collegiate education, many of the slots are up for grabs by newcomers – the most notable being the presidency. For the first time in Nerd Herd’s 3 year existence, an election will determine who is responsible for planning and running weekly meetings.

These are the officers and the current positions that are up for grabs: seniors Caralyn Damas (President), Juliana Pineda (Vice-President), Idette Monterroza (Secretary), Nicholas Votta (Design-Officer); sophomores Timothy Kelly (Media-Officer), Erickson Monterroza (Treasurer).

In order to run for office, a candidate is required to have ten signatures, and write an essay explaining why they want to become a Nerd Herd officer. The elections will be held this Thursday, on April 14th, after school in Room 225. Be there to cast your vote!
