The Student of the Year Campaign is a six-week initiative in which nominated students participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) National Capital Area Chapter. Winning the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year takes a lot of work. In order to win, one must raise the most amount of money out of the other students who have been nominated. There is a person among the student body at NPHS running to win the LLS Student of the Year Campaign. Alexander Gianquitti, a Junior at North Providence High School, has been working tirelessly to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He has also assembled a team of friends to help him reach his goal of raising $40,000. Juniors, Michaela Anelundi, Shannon Donnelly, Jo-Anne Henry, and Hannah Tiner have been helping Alex plan various fundraisers to contribute to his campaign.
On Thursday February 18, there will be a dodgeball tournament held here at NPHS to benefit Alex’s campaign and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Teams of 8-10 people are accepted to participate and the cost to play is $5 per player. All money goes towards the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
