Lady Cougar Tennis Season Wrap-Up and Senior Night 2015

The Lady Cougars Tennis team honored their graduating seniors on October 9th during their last practice of the season.

After nearly a week of rainouts, games were rescheduled and a home match against Providence Country Day continued onto a second day after rain ended it prematurely. Due to the hectic schedule, this year’s Senior Night was celebrated during a practice instead of the traditional, final home game of the season.

The change of setting did not dampen the mood however, nor did the periodic showers of rain. After celebrating each senior; Captains Caroline Coutu, Rachel Ferreira, and Taylor Lyman, as well as Suzana Smith, Barbara Kuan, and Fatima Yusuf, the team, varsity and junior varsity, played a fun, competitive game for first dibs on the food. Immediately after the game, rain began to pour and everyone huddled under a nearby gazebo and began feasting on pizza, cookies, chips, soda, and brownies.

The following Tuesday, October 13th, the team faced a devastating loss to Mt. Hope 0-7 concluding their season with a disappointing record of 2 wins and 11 losses. The Junior Varsity game the next day, October 14th ended with a loss of 2-5 against Classical.

The team’s only two victories were against Exeter/West Greenwich with a score of 6-1 and Providence Country Day, 5-2. Finishing their last season in Division II, the team hopes for better standings next year when they drop down to Division III.
