NPHS Kicks Cancer

North Providence High School teachers challenged the Lady Cougars Soccer team in honor of October’s theme of breast cancer awareness. The game took place on Wednesday, October 21 at the High School and featured every Varsity and Swing player from the Girl’s soccer team. The admission was $5 and all of the proceeds were donated to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation.

The teachers showed valiant effort throughout the game but, despite help from the referees throughout the second half, were unable to defeat the Girl’s Soccer Team. The final score was 8-1, with the Lady Cougars coming out on top. The teachers’ only goal came from math teacher Mr. Moniz. On the Cougar’s side, Sainey Joof, Alana Gonzalez, Savannah Talmadge, Aria Amico and Amanda Nye each scored one a piece. The remaining three goals were scored by Freshman Jessica Rizzo. Though the teachers came up empty handed this time, a fun time was had by all in attendance and NPHS was able to do their part in donating to a great cause.
