A night of fun at Notte Park

Last Friday, October 23rd was a big night for the residents of North Providence. The crisp autumn night, signified the town’s annual “Pumpkins in the Park”  held at Governor Notte Park.

People were welcome to enjoy music, refreshments, and view multiple carved pumpkins laid out across the park. Kids were greeted by a DJ and characters such as Elmo and Darth Vader. Spooky decorations were displayed in the park such as a scary graveyard and kids were also able to take a train ride around the park.

This event was coordinated by the North Providence Youth Commission, a group of teenagers that work with the town and other community services. Earlier in the week, Youth Commissioners spent countless hours carving pumpkins for this special event. Carvings included pictures such as Shrek or a haunted house. All pumpkins were displayed throughout the park for the people to enjoy. As people sipped hot cocoa and warm apple cider, they were in awe by the pumpkins lighting up the park. People of all ages enjoyed the night, as there was something for everyone. Overall, the Pumpkins in the Park was a successful and fun night for the town of North Providence.
