The Lady Cougar Soccer Team Claims Win Over Tolman High School

The North Providence High School girl’s soccer team defeated Tolman High School in a close 2-1 game this past Friday, September 25th. Throughout the first half of the game, the North Providence girls did an excellent job of retaining possession of the ball and taking many shots on goal. Tolman’s attempts at offense were held at bay by the excellent defensive staff of North Providence, led by Senior and Captain Amber Russell. Other defenders Lillian Paniccia, Nicole Mendoza, MiKayla Prior, and Sydney Daignault also did an excellent job of limiting scoring opportunities for the other team. By the end of the first half, the score was 0-0. It was not until there were only ten minutes left in the game when Freshman Jessica Rizzo is able to collect a goal with assistance from team members Victoria Threshier and Captain Alexandra Geiser. The Lady Cougars’ rally continues as, within the same minute, the third captain, Aliyah Colvin, scores again with an assist by Madison Talerico. Tolman attempted to battle back and scored a few minutes later, but they were unable to score again. This win gave the NPHS soccer team a respectable record of three wins, two losses, and two ties, and a great way to conclude Spirit Week.
