How to Love Yourself: Ask for Help When You Need it

Valerie Romjue, Staff Writer

Do you ever feel like people are bothered by you asking for help?  Well don’t!  We are all human beings and there will be times where you need a bit of support to get through rough times.  This is where friends and family come into play.  If you’re feeling sad, angry, or any negative emotion, talk to one of your loved ones about it.  These people are here for you to vent to.  Don’t allow yourself to think that your problems are a burden on any of your friends or family.  One step to building self-confidence is to gain the ability to start asking for what you need.

When you’re feeling sad, vent.  When you’re feeling anxious, ask someone to sit with you so you’re not all alone. When you’re hungry, ask for food.  This does not make you annoying or needy at all.  You’re worth it.  If you need help in math, don’t be afraid to ask your friend who is good at math for help.  People who don’t express their needs tend to have a low self-esteem.  Ask for advice, someone to vent to, company, anything you need to feel better.  Don’t be afraid to get support from loved ones!
