How to Love Yourself: It’s Not a Competition

One habit that many of us face is comparing ourselves to others.  We see another person and automatically start to think, ‘am I as attractive?’ or ‘do I have as nice of a body as they do?’ As we get to know that person we sometimes begin to ask ourselves, ‘am I as smart as them?’ or ‘am I as cool and nice as them?’  This way of thinking is something a lot of us are guilty of.  Comparing yourself to others is not healthy or necessary.

No matter how pretty, smart, or muscular a person is, everyone has their own insecurities.  When you have a mindset that involves comparing yourself to others you can never win.  But you can win by being the very best version of yourself and by embracing the characteristics that make you unique.  Life isn’t about being the prettiest, or the smartest, or the most liked person in the world – it’s about loving the good characteristics you have and just having fun being who you are.

Next time you see someone beautiful, don’t get self-conscious.  Remember that it’s no competition.  Live your life with confidence keeping in mind that you’re beautiful and unique in your own way like everyone else.
