On Monday, October 20th, seniors Brooke Ciancaglini and Alarice Luwaga planned a Student vs. Teacher Soccer Match to honor and raise money for those with scoliosis. This project has been an annual event, with students, teachers, and community members excited to attend. The overall mission of the match this year was to bring awareness to scoliosis, the curvature of the spine. It’s a condition that is common among athletes. Through the soccer match, they were able to raise money, where half will go to the National Scoliosis Foundation, some will go Academy Physical Therapy, a local physical therapy facility, and some towards a scholarship rewarded through North Providence High School.
It was a close game, but the students emerged victorious, scoring 8 goals. The teachers scored 7! At half time, three students were picked for a crossbar challenge, where the winner was awarded an Amazon gift card. The support for this game was amazing, and Brooke and Alarice are beyond grateful for everything accomplished. Without our community, this wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you!
