Greer, an indie rock band based in California, has released their debut album, Big Smile, on March 21st of this year. They’ve come back from their three-year hiatus which they say was due to artistic burnout. Before that, they had released two EPs (“Lullaby for You” in 2020 and “Happy People” in 2021). After their hiatus, the band members realized that they needed to reconnect with both their music and each other.
Greer went back into the studio with their producer, Robert Schnapf, with over 200 songs written. They ended up choosing 13 to put on the album. They first released 2 of the songs, Had Enough and Franken as teasers for the album. They also released a music video for the song Had Enough. These are;
- Omnibus
- One in the Same
- Had Enough
- With Might of Worms
- Miracle Fighting Red Baron
- Franken
- 1994
- Test Virgin Opposites
- Fighter Pilot Eats a Lemon
- Demolition 9
- She Knows
- Mugwump

While all songs have different vibes to them, they all sound a lot more different from their songs released before their hiatus. The album has a more noisy, garage band, rock sound to it. They seem to have improved and found a newer style. The lyrics throughout the 13 songs show their struggle with rediscovering themselves.
This is a great album and I highly suggest listening to it here!
