Snow White: Does it keep the same Nostalgic feel, or does the live-action version change it? During the past weekend, we had the pleasure of seeing Snow White, the live-action version, in the movie theater. While watching this matinee, we realized that there were many key differences that differentiated the new from the classic fairy tale that we know and love.
To give credit where credit was due, despite the controversy with the cast, Rachel Ziegler was a wonderful Snow White even if she wasn’t the look we pictured for the princess. We got additional songs like Waiting on a Wish and classic oldies like Hi Ho. Sandy Powell did a great job with costume design. She honed a new way to bring to life the classic outfits that the first-ever Disney princess and wicked villain had.
Now to bring up the actual plot, the first significant difference we spotted was in the beginning when we saw Snow White’s parents, an original we already knew to be dead. Snow White was also aged up from 13 which was a fortunate change. There was also multiple small changes that affected the original we know such as Dopeys voice, the Queens death, and Snow White’s design however the biggest difference that truly impacted the film personally for the worst was the change from Snow Whites savior going from a prince that saves her to a Robin Hood character. His character change gave Snow White an independent role, completely throwing away the original attitude of her character. The new Snow White stands for progressivism which isn’t a bad thing but it trashes the idea of femininity giving the view that one can’t be feminine and independent. Relying on someone doesn’t mean your weak.
