With the winter season coming to an end, it’s time to showcase the impressive statistics, records, and achievements our North Providence Cougars have accomplished so far!
Boys Basketball
The back-to-back Division III champions have set the bar high for this season, with an overall record of 20-1. The boys basketball team shows the importance of teamwork, dedication, and determination. Their hard work has put them 4th in Rhode Island and 1st in Division II. Impressively, they beat the reigning 2024 Division II champions, Lincoln, twice. These crucial wins are putting them on the track to become division champions once again.
Girls Basketball
The girls basketball team has shown resilience and skill on the court. From hard-fought wins to lessons learned in tough match ups, the team has been sharpening its game with each challenge. Their overall record this season is 12-7, placing them 5th in Division III. Their skills have put them on track for the playoffs.
Boys and Girls Swim
As the season reaches the end, the Cougar swimming teams have had a unique season, as the North Providence Public Pool & Fitness Center faced an explosion that caused them to hold practices at the Smithfield YMCA. The girls swim team has made a splash with outstanding performances. They have showcased their strengths in the pool, and have shown their team chemistry with their success. Placing third in Division II, their record is 3-6-0. Meanwhile, the Smithfield/North Providence/North Smithfield boys swim team has had to build their team from the ground up, as it is their first year as a co-op team. Placing last in Division II with a record of 0-6-0, it has been a season of rebuilding and growth.
Boys and Girls Indoor Track
While it’s only the second year running, the boys and girls indoor track team has shocked many schools and coaches with standout performances, personal bests, and competition. From dominant sprints to powerful field events, the Cougars show intensity. Members of the team, such as Rohey Joof and Olivia Grace-Gemma have set new school records for the 55m dash and the 55m hurdles. Congratulations to Rohey Joof, Jaida DellaMorte-Pitts, and Corbin Agresti for qualifying for states on February 15th! With momentum on their side, the Cougars are ready to make the most of the season’s final stretch.
Hockey
The St. Rays/PCD/NS/NP Boys Hockey co-op team has shown up on the rink, highlighting strong victories and hard-fought battles. While the Cougar boys hockey members were previously a part of the BVP co-op team in years prior, they show the importance of skill and perseverance when faced with challenges. With a record of 10-3-0 in Division III, the Hockey team has continued to show determination
Wrestling
The wrestling team has triumphed through the season, showing skill and progress on and off the mat. They have competed fiercely in dual meets and tournaments, making their record 11-3-0 in Division I. This places them third in their division. The Cougar girls wrestling team has made history for North Providence in tournaments, showing confidence and proving that they are among the best. Throughout the season, they often placed high individually and collectively among other teams. This season has showcased growth and impressive records on the wrestling team.
