October 22, 2024, the Lady Cougar Volleyball team hosted the Eagles of Times2 Academy for their last home game of the season. The stands were filled with supportive friends and family to cheer them on. In celebration of the two seniors, Deandra Zigbuo and Kyannah Taveras, the girl’s teammates filled the gymnasium with various cougar colored decorations. The seniors were showered with baskets of their favorite snacks and goodies, heartfelt messages, and stunning posters. Bittersweet joy filled the room as the girl’s faced the reality of playing their last home game with Kyannah and Deandra.
JV started off the night strong with an impressive win. Captain Olivia Kearns and Mariana Xavier led the team’s serves with a combined total of 15 service points. Olivia managed five aces out of her total nine points. In the back row, Captain Allyson Bruno led the girl’s defense and contributed three fierce digs. Overall, the Jv team played an amazing game and left a highly energetic atmosphere for the Varsity players to take the court.
After five suspense-filled sets, the Varsity team took the win. The girl’s gave their all for their last home game and it paid off. Deandra Zigbuo and Danae Bruckner both had seven kills. Emani Fuentes had a total of 10 points, five of them being aces and Jude Landero carried the back row with over 10 digs. To top it all off, Kyannnh and Deandra were named players of the game.
