After a heart-pounding showdown at the ROC, the boys soccer team came out on top with their first win of the season against the Knights of Exeter-West Greenwich. The match took place on September 14th, and amidst the gentle, late-summer breeze, the Cougars emerged victorious with a final score of 2-1. The atmosphere at the ROC was electric as students, parents, and dedicated fans gathered to witness the Cougars in action.
From the opening whistle, both teams displayed impressive skill and determination, making it evident that this match would be anything but a cakewalk. The game got off to an unexpected start when the Knights managed to slip one past our Cougar defense, scoring the first goal of the match. This early setback only fueled the determination of our home team.

The Cougar’s relentless efforts paid off once again, netting the final goal with less than ten minutes left in the game. In the midst of the ecstatic celebrations that followed the goal, there was a moment of unexpected hilarity when the goal scorer removed his shirt as he and the team ran towards the crowd. However, the referee wasn’t quite as amused and promptly issued a yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct.
