Richard Reviews: Ghost in the Shell 2017

Richard Cardente, Reporter

Ghost in the Shell 2017 is a science fiction action film based on the manga (Japanese comic book) and anime of the same name.  It is directed by Rupert Sanders and stars Scarlett Johansson, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbaek , Cin Han, and Juliette Binoche.  It is 106 minutes and is rated PG-13.

After an accident,  Major Motoko Kusanagi is sent on a mission under section 9 to hunt down someone.  The original Ghost in the Shell is an anime classic and influenced a lot of American entertainment.  So this film had a lot to live up to.  However, I did not really care for this film.  The set designs are great, the visual effects are great and the acting in fine.  The score is also good, however, it does not seem to fit well into the film like the original score did in the first film.

The main problem with the film is that, it just does not have what made the original film great, and I was just left kind of bored watching the film.  I would defiantly recommend the original film over this.

I will give the film 2 popcorn buckets.
