Richard Reviews: Rogue One (A Star Wars Story)

Richard Cardente, Reporter

Rogue One (A Star Wars Story) is a new prequel in the Star Wars film franchise.  The film stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Mads Mikkelsen, and Forest Whitaker among others.  It is 2 hours and 13 minutes and is rated PG-13.

Set between episodes three and four, the film tells the story of Rogue One, the group that stole the Death Star plans which ended up inside R2-D2 in episode four (the original film from 1977).  Walking out of the theater I was speechless.  This film is absolutely amazing.

What I liked about the film was how well it ties it to episode four during the climax and ending – which, by the way, was one the best endings I have even seen.  The acting was also great with everyone very convincing in their roles.  My favorite parts of Rogue One were the production value, which was incredible to look at, action sequences all of which were well choreographed and well shot, and the visual effects, which looked absolutely fantastic.

Overall, Rogue One (A Star Wars Story) is a fantastic new installment in this beloved franchise.  I would recommend the film, however, their is a certain debate.  If you are a die hard Star Wars fan you will like the film but may not love it because it seems different from a traditional Star Wars film.  The film must be treated as a stand alone film.  I will give the film four popcorn buckets.
