Pokemon Sun and Moon

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a copy of Pokemon Moon on the day of release, November 18th, and have had the chance to play it for a bit.  It was a brilliantly executed game that builds upon the mechanics of all of its predecessors and implements new mechanics to its fullest.  If you have a 3DS it is an absolute must.

The gameplay is virtually the same compared to all other Pokemon games with both exploration in the over world and battles as the main interaction with the environment.  In this game, Gym Leaders are replaced with Trial Captains and Island Kahunas to test the player’s skill.  Some new features are the Rotom Pokedex, which acts as the conventional Pokedex, a guide, and a map.  The ability to ride certain Pokemon has also now been fully implemented unlike its predecessor of Pokemon X and Y, which only had the player ride Pokemon in specific areas.  From what I have played the plot is engaging and unique, but I will not elaborate more in an attempt to stop spoilers.  The battle system has been streamlined and made a lot easier for new comers to the series.  If  you have not played a main series Pokemon Game before this would be the one to start with due to it being a completely unique experience compared to other Pokemon Games.  The only downside is that like the other 3D Pokemon games there is a frame rate drop in Double battles.

That is why I rate this game a 9.5 out of 10.
