On March 11th 2015, NPHS hosted a home Unified Basketball game in the gymnasium during the last two periods of the day.
The game was against Ponaganset High School, the same school our Cougars faced for their big game last year. Ponaganset won the game with the score ending 28 for Ponaganset and 26 for the Cougars.
This game was dedicated to Jose Garcia, a former member of the team, who passed away on January 2nd of this year. There was a moment of silence before starting.
Eleventh grade music student, Delaney Fenton, sang the National Anthem and “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera.
During halftime, Mrs. Hilton threw T-Shirts into the crowds for lucky catchers. This brought so much excitement to one student that they actually leaped into the air to catch a shirt.
Students from the middle school’s around the area came to see the game as well. They sat in the bleachers along with with the high school students.
