2014 was a transition year for the Cougar Boy’s soccer team and it really did show. Throughout the year the boys showed little sparks, that made us seem like that they have a chance to compete for the title this year. With many senior starters leaving, they felt like they still had a chance to compete in Division 3. As the season went on, that chance of competing, become more of a dream than reality. The Cougars started of the season with a loss at Woonsocket, a team that came down for Division 1, 5-0. They then bounced back and beta Tiverton 2-1. Unfortunately, that Tiverton win was the only of the season for the Cougars Boys soccer team. The Cougars would go on to lose every game, except drawing Johnston 0-0. Many match-ups wouldn’t even be close, like the 8-0 loss to Davies, or the 6-0 loss to Providence Country Day. The injury bug though hit the Cougars as Junior Captain goalkeeper Matt Ortiz was out for 5 games of the season due to a jaw injury. They ended the season with a 1-13-1 record. The Cougar Boys soccer team though look to turn some heads next year and have a strong turnaround and hope to compete for the Division III title.
