On Tuesday, September 24, 2013, the North Providence High School National Honor Society sponsored a blood drive in partnership with the Rhode Island Blood Center. This event was held in the cafeteria, and each pint of blood that was graciously donated saved approximately three lives.
According to the NHS advisor, Mrs. Melissa Thomas, “We are hosting four drives this year, so we’re hoping our impact on the community will be even greater.” Last year, NHS held two blood drives, and they were able to save a total of 300 lives. Mrs. Thomas is looking to pass that amount this year with the increase in blood drives, and the National Honor Society’s charitable and positive impact on the community will undoubtedly be even greater.
