On January 31st at the Natatorium, the Cougars celebrated their last home meet of the season. From the 45 + students-athletes of the collaborative swim team, 13 seniors were honored for the occasion: the captains Michele Winter, Diana Perez, Julia DePalma and Trestin Wehbe, followed by Kelly Dionne, Amy Zhang, Kayla Lapinski, Laura Barilari, Brandon Darelius, Austin Pedersen, Suilio Simo and Joe Corcelli. For the event, parents and friends of the athletes came to pool, filling every corner of the bleachers to support the home team, while cheering the loudest their voices could reach. The Cougars went up against the undefeated Islanders from Middletown, with a result of 48 – 46 for the boys, who are still undefeated, and a defeat for the girls, bringing the girls team to a 3 win-to-1 loss record. Both the Girls and the Boys teams have two meets left to race before the Division III Championship meet on February 9th at Roger Williams University: the first one on Wednesday 5th against Classical High School, and Thursday 6th against Shea at Tolman’s pool.
