With the new year upon us, new electors fill the positions that run our town. On January 8th 2017, in the North Providence High School auditorium, the ceremony took place at four o’clock in the afternoon.

Several honorable men and women were present at the ceremony. Among them included Senator Jack Reed, Congressmen David Cicilline and Governor Gina Raimondo. Judge Francis X. Flaherty of the Rhode Island Supreme Court was also present in addition to Reverend Joseph Pescarello of Mary, Mother of Mankind Church. Chief Judge Frank Caprio of the Providence Municipal Court was the principal speaker of the event. The afternoon began with a processional given by the North Providence High School concert band. Following their performance, a Presentation of Colors was given by the Police and Fire Departments. The National Anthem was sung by Marissa Beatini and the Youth Commission’s former chairperson Noah Bond also gave an address.

As for inaugurations, Mayor Charles Lombardi, the Town Council President, members of the School Committee, and the School Committee chairman took place. The night ended with the song God Bless America sung by Lexi Grace Lanni and the Retiring of Colors.

Congrats to all newly elected town officials!
