What I’m Expecting For The Flash Mid-season Finale

*spoilers ahead*
Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) has had a rough year. After his father was murdered, he traveled back in time to stop his mother’s death, creating the alternate timeline “Flashpoint”. Once he realized that he would forget his past timeline he went back again to reset it. However this created another timeline similar to the original but not quite the same. After a good heart to heart talk with Jay Garrick, Earth 2’s Flash and Barry’s late father’s doppelganger, Barry decided to not travel back in time anymore.

But new problems have arised. Cisco Ramon’s (Carlos Valdez) brother has died. Caitlyn Snow (Danielle Panabaker) has developed ice powers like her Earth 2 counterpart, Killer Frost. There is also a great new threat, Dr. Alchemy who somehow has memories or rather is aware of what life was like in Flashpoint. His mission is restore what was taken from people when the timeline was reset. He serves the (evil) speed god Savitar.

Last week CW had its four episode crossover, featuring heroes from Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and the Flash. After defeating aliens the heroes returned to their Earths, time ships, and secret labs to deal with their own current problems. For Flash, he has to deal with Savitar and Dr. Alchemy. It was revealed in a recent episode that Julian Albert (Tom Felton) is Alchemy. Julian is an addition to the current timeline. He worked with Barry as a CSI and has a strong disliking for Barry and metahumans. After blackmailing him, Julian has finally gotten Barry to resign from the CCPD (Central City Police Department) in order to protect Caitlyn from being discovered as the destructive meta who went on a rampage two weeks ago. Now it is time for Barry Allen to face off Savitar and Alchemy. He won’t be alone though, he will be joined by Jay Garrick.
For the midseason finale I am wondering a few things. First off, I’m concerned a little bit about Wally. He got his Flashpoint powers back and HR (a Harrison Wells from Earth-19) has agreed to train him. What’s concerning is that he touched a ring and then was inside a cocoon before being cut out and having his powers stabilized. When Wally got that ring he was in Alchemy’s lair and was urged to touch it. This could mean that he may be Alchemy’s -or Savitar’s- property being that the ring he found there essentially gave him his powers. In the trailer for the finale Savitar or Alchemy (they both have incredibly deep voices) states, “I know your fears, I know your weaknesses.” While this could be about Iris, who has a relationship with Barry, it could also be about Wally. This wouldn’t be the first time he was held hostage and we also know that Barry would go as far as give up his speed for him. Also Barry is currently unaware that Julian Albert is Alchemy and being that he had started to reach out to Julian, I’m not sure how he’ll react when he does find out who he actually. This also puts Barry in a tough spot because of the current leverage Julian has over him. Since Tom Felton is always listed as a guest star on the show I have a feeling his character will be defeated during the finale. Aside from that, promo pictures show that Mark Hamill will be playing Trickster from Earth-3. This Trickster is described as being a mixture of Joker and Trickster, so that should be pretty exciting. Anyways, I’m pretty hyped for this. The episode airs tonight at 8 p.m.
