1,000 points is a huge milestone in any sport. Whether it is soccer or hockey, it shows a lot about that player. It represents the hard work and dedication they put into their sport. Especially if that sport is basketball. Before the Cougar Boy’s basketball game, four men were honored for breaking the milestone of 1,000 points. Those honored included Anthony Fiocco Class of 2004, Austin VanBemmelen and Michael Ferrante both Class of 2012, and the Hometown Hero, Ernie DiGregorio Class of 1968. Ernie DiGregorio went on to play Division I basketball for Providence College and then went on to play for the Buffalo Braves in the NBA and was the 1974 NBA Rookie of the Year. The Cougars ended up losing in a nail bitter to a talented West Warwick team, 86-83, later that night. It was back and forth all game and unfortunately the Cougars did not come out on top. However, the game did not take away from any player honored that night.
