The library is off to a fresh start as new implements are being adjusted and added to help students in a more productive manner. One of the various missions the librarians this year is to work with the Collection Development Librarian next door to ensure the library has more resources to assist the students. The intention is to create a collaboration between the public library and our school library so that if students have specific projects to research, the books needed could be found at both the public and school libraries.
If you haven’t all noticed already, the recently created “Career Word Wall” was a gift from not only the Class of 2012 but also one of the school’s very own reading specialists, Ms. Gambardella. The wall is filled with selected words that students will be exposed to later in adult life. This year, Ms. Gambardella is very determined to build student’s academic vocabulary and engage them thoroughly through other tasks that will be shortly sorted out. In addition to the Word Wall, a resource manual will also be created for the use of students and teachers alike.next door to ensure the library has more resources to assist the students. Just as Ms. Nahabedian, one of the few librarians at this school, states, “The library is the hub of the school and is always available to students.” This statement has been proven several times as many school events and displays are held there such as math club’s Puzzle Day, International Day, and even book clubs (one of which will be featuring the world renown novel, “The Great Gatsby”).
Students are reminded that the library is open all throughout the school mornings and afternoons and even after school on Tuesdays.
