This year, senior Kevin Martineau decided to bring a chess club to North Providence High School. Kevin says that he has enjoyed playing chess since elementary school and he thought it would be a great idea to start one up at our school.

“It’s a good way to take your brain off of school and have some fun,” Kevin said. His new club also is going to be the base of his senior project, with English teacher, Mr. Ryan, as his mentor.

Kevin’s essential question is in development, but expected to go something like this- “How can chess improve the health of individuals and their community?” Want to help Kevin make his senior project a success? Join chess club in room 224, it runs right after school every Tuesday and Thursday!
