Congratulations to the NPHS Unified Basketball team for winning state championships!

Unified Basketball is a unique organization in which Special Olympics RI and Rhode Island Interscholastic League collaborate. It brings students with and without intellectual disabilities together to play in a sport. At NPHS, Jacqueline Hilton is the head coach, Jim Curtis is the Assistant Coach, and Deavon Shepherd is the team manager.

The semi-final game was against Lincoln High School, in which the Cougars pulled off a victory with a 42-32 score. The championship game took place at La Salle High School on May 7th against Burrillville High School. The NPHS team won 42-32 . Each player on the team scored at least two baskets. The team ended the season with 8-1 and seeded #1 with a tie.

The 2016 Unified Basketball team roster consisted of: Delaney Fenton, Matthew Soave, Oriana Hunter, Aidan Ferreira, Nicholas Nastari, Rakeem Bontemp, Jason Monteiro, Antonio Esposito, Andrew Ferreira, Joseph Turner, Matthew Cook, Jarod Radigan, Tyler Pedro, Jared DeLomba, Andrew DesMarteau, and Thomas Urena with Managers Deavon Shepherd and Alena Hunter.
