NPHS is participating in national reading week which will be taking place on April 11th through the 15th. There are a number of events featured during the week:

4/11/16 Monday- Students have the availability to drop of books the will be donated to Marieville Elementary School. The morning announcements will be delivered by baseball players, also during this the word of the day will be revealed. At 11 o’clock through 12 o’clock drop everything and read will happen and if you get caught reading by one of the Cougar Courier staff members your picture will be posted here on the website. At 12 o’clock through 1 o’clock the reading buddies field trip at McGuire Elementary School will happen. And at 1:50 the quote of the day submitted by students will be selected during afternoon announcements.

4/12/16 Tuesday- Dress up as favorite book character will be taking place. The morning announcements will be delivered by baseball players, also during this the word of the day will be revealed. At 11 o’clock through 12 o’clock drop everything and read will happen and if you get caught reading by one of the Cougar Courier staff members your picture will be posted here on the website. At 12 o’clock through 1 o’clock learn about the newest young adult books with a QR code hunt around the school. And at 1:50 the quote of the day submitted by students will be selected during afternoon announcements.

4/13/16 Wednesday- The morning announcements will be delivered by baseball players, also during this the word of the day will be revealed. At 11 o’clock through 12 o’clock drop everything and read will happen and if you get caught reading by one of the Cougar Courier staff members your picture will be posted here on the website. Also there will be a photo opp with Paw the Pawtucket Red Sox Mascot.  At 12 o’clock through 1 o’clock the reading buddies field trip at McGuire Elementary School will happen. And at 1:50 the quote of the day submitted by students will be selected during afternoon announcements.

4/14/16 Thursday- April fools switch! Teachers share their favorite children’s book. The morning announcements will be delivered by baseball players, also during this the word of the day will be revealed. At 11 o’clock through 12 o’clock drop everything and read will happen and if you get caught reading by one of the Cougar Courier staff members your picture will be posted here on the website. At 12:15 through 1:15 there will be a guest speaker Maria Mutch. At 1:15 through 1:45 there will be a book signing. And at 1:50 the quote of the day submitted by students will be selected during afternoon announcements.

4/15/16 Friday- Special addition of Cougar Courier with a listicle of teacher’s favorite books. The morning announcements will be delivered by baseball players, also during this the word of the day will be revealed. At 11 o’clock through 12 o’clock there will be a live school wide tweet. At 12 o’clock through 1 o’clock drop everything and read and if you get caught reading by Paws your picture will be posted here on the website and on the school’s Facebook.  And at 1:50 the quote of the day submitted by students will be selected during afternoon announcements.
